Investing in the history of home.

Sisters Kaleen Long and Kelle Rathe drew on family heritage to create J.L. Long Traders in downtown Springfield.

Located on historic Walnut Street, this store stands where our great-great-grandfather operated J.L. Long and Sons Furniture Co., established in 1903. “Traders” pays homage to the western branch of our family tree who came from Wyoming.

After leaving home for 13 years each, we are proud to be back in the Ozarks. Throughout our travels and experiences, we were never more impressed by the creativity, ingenuity, and collaboration of any place than right here in Springfield.

We offer unique items ranging from paper products to vintage furniture in “micro-batches.” Small supplies of items we’ve either found and fixed up ourselves, sourced from small businesses, or work by local craftsmen.

J.L. Long and Sons Furniture Co.

Five generations in the making, we wanted to honor the history of J.L. Long and Sons Furniture Co. while establishing a store that serves the Springfield of today. Our logo, tissue paper, slogan, and more carry a touch of the original business.
